Feeds
To receive new articles continuously, you choose what the feed contains, and whether you pull it from us or we push it to you.
SafeFeed or StoredSearch
| SafeFeed | StoredSearch | |
|---|---|---|
| Contains | A firehose: all content, or filtered based on country, region, language or topics. | The articles matching the searches you register. |
| Configured by | Opoint. Any further filtering must be done in your own systems. | You, through the API or the Opoint Portal. You can change your searches at any time. |
| Good for | Ingesting large volumes of articles into your own systems. | Following particular names and topics, with each article marked with the search it matched. |

Pull or push
Both feeds can be pulled from our API, or pushed to you.
| Pull | Push | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | You call our API at regular intervals. | We send the articles to your FTP or HTTP server, or to S3, and retry automatically. |
| On your side | A program that keeps polling, and keeps track of where it got to. | Somewhere to receive the data. There is no feed to poll and no state to keep track of. |
| Set up by | You, with your API token or SafeFeed key. | Opoint, together with you. |
Setting up push delivery
Push delivery is set up by Opoint. Contact us, and tell us which feed you want and:
- Where to push the data: the address of your FTP or HTTP(S) server, or your S3 bucket.
- The credentials we should use.
